Privacy
Coursva has no account system and no server of its own. Almost everything below is a description of things that don’t happen.
Coursva does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal information. The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you enter — courses, assignments, grades, notes, class times, focus sessions — is written to a database inside the app on your own device. It is not uploaded anywhere by default, and it is not visible to anyone but you.
There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. Coursva never asks for your name, your email address, or your school.
Syncing between your devices
Sync is off unless you turn it on, and you choose which kind:
- iCloud. Your data syncs through your Apple account using Apple’s CloudKit. It is stored in your private iCloud database, governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Coursva has no access to it and no ability to read it.
- Your own server. If you point Coursva at a WebDAV server or a NAS on your network, your data goes only to that machine. You own it, and the credentials are held in the device Keychain.
In both cases the data goes to infrastructure you control. There is no Coursva server in the middle, because there is no Coursva server.
Permissions the app may ask for
- Calendar. Only if you turn on calendar export. It is used to write your class schedule into a calendar you pick, and to show your existing events alongside your classes. Coursva does not read your calendar for any other purpose and does not transmit its contents.
- Notifications. Used to remind you about upcoming deadlines and classes. Reminders are scheduled on your device; nothing is sent through a remote push server.
- Local network. Only if you set up WebDAV or NAS sync, so the app can reach that machine on your own network.
Deleting your data
Deleted courses, terms, assignments, and grades go to a trash you can restore from. Emptying it removes them permanently from the device. Deleting the app removes everything it stored locally.
If you turned on iCloud sync, your data also lives in your own iCloud account — you can remove it from Settings on your device, the same way as any other app’s iCloud data.
This website
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes request data such as IP addresses in order to deliver the page and block abuse.
If site analytics are enabled, they are Cloudflare Web Analytics: no cookies, no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking, and no data about individual visitors — only aggregate counts of page views and referrers.
The launch waitlist
If you enter your email address in the waitlist form, that address is recorded so I can tell you when Coursva is released. Specifically:
- Your email address and the date you signed up are stored in a private Google Sheet.
- It is used for one message: a note on launch day.
- It is never sold, shared, or added to a mailing list.
- The waitlist is entirely separate from the app. Using Coursva never requires it.
Want off the list, or want your address deleted? Email [email protected] and it will be removed.
Children
Coursva is a study tool and is suitable for students of school age. Because it collects no personal information and has no accounts, no data about any user — of any age — is gathered or transmitted.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a future version of Coursva ever adds accounts or a server, this page will say so plainly and in advance.
